SENIORS
Senior Volunteers in Service
Volunteers visit isolated immigrant seniors, to provide support and companionship in their homes and escort them to community
appointments. Seniors receive a weekly call from the volunteer.
Volunteers also assist with organizing workshops and programs, providing interpretation during educational sessions and other activities, providing translation of documents and other information relevant to senior services.
Furthermore, the volunteers who are identified leaders in their communities act as a connecting link between their communities and the providers and programs of the Centre.
Communities served by the Senior Volunteers in Service are: Latin American, Polish, Bosnian, and mainstream English speaking seniors.
Seniors Drop In
Latin American, Polish and mainstream English speaking seniors get together for companionship, arts and crafts, exercise, information sessions on health and social issues, health promotion theatre for seniors, Intergenerational programs and field trips in and around London. The program runs every Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Approximately 40 seniors attend weekly.
